TEFMA / Programmed Property Services Grounds Scholarship

General
TEFMA has established a Grounds Scholarship for first line supervisors
involved in the management and maintenance of grounds in the tertiary
education sector. The scholarship is awarded annually; however,
this will be subject to the availability of funds and dependent
on suitable applications being received. The TEFMA Education Services
Committee is to administer this Scholarship/s.
Aim
The aim of the scholarship is to provide an opportunity for a person/s
employed in facilities management with an Institutional Member of
TEFMA to:
- Attend a TEFMA Grounds Workshop if conducted.
- In a year when a TEFMA Grounds Workshop is not being held, to
undertake a study tour of other Australasian institutions to improve
their knowledge of contemporary grounds management issues in the
tertiary education sector.
Eligibility
- Only one nomination per institution is permitted each
year for each scholarship.
- Scholarships will normally be granted to an individual only
once.
- Candidates must be an employee of an Institutional member of
TEFMA.
- If the candidate is not already a member of TEFMA, then the
host Institutional member is to arrange for the candidate to become
a member of TEFMA.
- Candidates must have a minimum of two years experience within
a Facilities environment.
- Candidates must be a first line Supervisor (approximately HEW6)
in the facilities management department.
- Scholarship applicants may be required to undertake an interview.
Application and Selection
Invitations to apply for the Scholarship will be circulated to
all Institutional members. The invitation shall clearly indicate
the closing date for receipt of applications and the address to
which they are to be forwarded. Electronic applications will be
accepted provided the email is sourced from the approving member.
Reminders should also be promulgated.
The Scholarship is awarded to an eligible candidate after consideration
of the the responses to the Selection Criteria on the Selection
Criteria form.
Selection of the successful applicant/s will be determined by the
TEFMA Board following receipt of a recommendation from a Panel established
to review the applications. The Review Panel shall be made up of
the following members:
- Chair, Education Committee
- Deputy Chair, Education Committee
- A Past-President of TEFMA
More than one Scholarship can be awarded in any calendar year.

The Scholarship has a value of A$2,000 inc GST towards the
cost of the selected applicant attending a TEFMA Grounds Workshop
or undertaking the study tour. The successful applicant will
need support from their institution for both the time to attend
the workshop and any associated costs above the scholarship
amount. If the costs incurred are less than $2,000 inc GST,
then the scholarship is for the actual costs incurred.
The successful applicant will be required to write an article
for the TEFMA Newsletter about their learning experience at
the TEFMA Grounds Workshop.

Administration
A successful applicant is required to make all necessary
travel and registration arrangements. The successful applicant's
institution pays for all travel costs and those other associated
costs. The institution then forwards a copy of the claim/appropriate
invoices to the TEFMA Treasurer for reimbursement of the TEFMA
scholarship contribution. |
