TEFMA /OPUS Leadership Development Program Scholarship

General

Each year TEFMA runs a 6 day residential course in Leadership Development for Facilities Managers. The course in 2009 will focus on leadership development and will be run by Metanoa, Change and Process facilitators at Aitken Hill, Melbourne. TEFMA/OPUS offer a scholarship for a TEFMA member to attend the course each year. The course will be run from Sunday 16th August to Friday 21August 2009.

Aim

The Aim of the Scholarship is to provide an opportunity each year for a person/s employed in facilities management with an institution, which is a member of TEFMA, to attend the Leadership Development Programme.

Eligibility

  • Only one nomination per institution is permitted each year for each scholarship.
  • Scholarships will normally be granted to an individual only once.
  • Candidates must be an employee of an Institutional member of TEFMA.
  • If the candidate is not already a member of TEFMA, then the host Institutional member is to arrange for the candidate to become a member of TEFMA.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of two years experience within a Facilities environment.
  • Candidates must be operating at the supervisor/middle manager level in the facilities management department.
  • Scholarship applicants may be required to undertake an interview.

Application and Selection

Invitations to apply for the Scholarship will be circulated to all Institutional members. The invitation shall clearly indicate the closing date for receipt of applications and the address to which they are to be forwarded. Electronic applications will be accepted provided the email is sourced from the approving member. Reminders should also be promulgated.

The Scholarship is awarded to an eligible candidate after consideration of the responses to the Selection Criteria on the Selection Criteria form.

Selection of the successful applicant/s will be determined by the TEFMA Board following receipt of a recommendation from a Panel established to review the applications. The Review Panel shall be made up of the following members:

  • Chair, Education Committee
  • Deputy Chair, Education Committee
  • A Past-President of TEFMA

More than one Scholarship can be awarded in any calendar year.

The Scholarship


The Scholarship has a value of A$3,000 inc GST. The successful applicant will need support from his/her institution for both the time to attend the course, which is of one week's duration, and the balance of the course fees.

The successful applicant will be required to produce an TEFMA Newsletter article within 4 weeks of attending the course, giving an outline of the benefits given by the training and how the new knowledge will be applied to the applicant's work.


OPUS International Consultants Ltd

OPUS International Consultants is a global professional services consultancy working in the areas of infrastructure, architecture, water, environmental, asset development, and management solutions.

Registration

The successful applicant(s) is required to register for the Leadership Development Programme (course) as though they were applying directly to attend the course. The Education Committee will inform both the successful applicant(s) and the course venue of the results of the approved Scholarship selection/award to ensure registration is actioned.

Administration

The Scholarship is A$3,000 inc GST for each person. This is a subsidy against travel to/from the course venue and course fees (current course costs are in excess of A$5,000). A successful applicant's institution pays both travel and course fee costs and forwards a copy of the claims/invoices to the TEFMA Treasurer for reimbursement of the TEFMA (Scholarship) contribution.
