Your purpose

As the Operations Manager, you will report to the Deputy Director, Campus Services, be responsible for delivering a successful service by focusing on contract and risk management, compliance processes, and ensure effective delivery of a large annual program of operations and maintenance works. We will look to you to ensure long-term operations and maintenance is carried out in a strategic way, aligning to the University’s Strategic Plan “Looking Ahead”.

Your key responsibilities include: 

  • Encouraging high-performance and leading a strong team in technical operations, engineering, contracts, systems and administration;
  • Building of successful internal and external University stakeholder relationships;
  • Identifying and managing emerging risks, and providing timely advice and updates to management and other University key stakeholders;
  • Leading the contract management of a large annual program of operations and maintenance work; and
  • Through the implementation of innovative contract solutions, you will realise effective lifecycle and sustainable outcomes for University assets.

Your Contribution
Understanding the value of continuous improvement, you will be familiar with managing the operations and maintenance of a diverse property portfolio of over 250 buildings (including theatres, halls, labs, and accommodation, gym and pool and office buildings). Your previous experience in a large client side or top tier contractor organisation will provide an ideal background to be successful and highly proficient in this role.
As a charismatic leader, your approach to engagement will quickly build trust and respect with your stakeholders, colleagues and team. Your strong interpersonal skills will allow you to confidently engage with a wide audience, build rapport and influence the successful delivery of operations and maintenance programs. 
This position is offered as a full-time, permanent opportunity with requirement to travel across multiple sites and is expected to work outside of normal hours, when required. A police check will be conducted for the successful applicant.
