Leaders Forum 2024
 

TEFMA holds an annual Forum for senior university leaders, Chief Property Officers, Executive Directors, Directors, Associate Directors and industry leaders working in the higher education sector.  This Forum is held in a different locations each year in Australasia, generally in conjunction with one of TEFMA's workshops.

The 2024 Leaders Forum will be held at Flinders University, Adelaide, on Monday 17th June 2024.  The Forum will focus on advancing university campuses and precincts through strategic partnerships with industry and government.  The Local Organising Committee (LOC) has put together an informative program, which includes the Speakers below.  We will tour some university and government precincts and cap the Forum off with a Forum Dinner.

Speaker Spotlight 

Mark Gregory is Vice President (Corporate) and Chief Operating Officer of Flinders University. The portfolio he leads is comprised of great people working on Sustainability, Buildings & Property, Finance, Information Technology, College business operations, People & Culture, Student Accommodation, the University Library and other teams. Mark drives large capital construction and commercial real estate efforts, as well as leading the University’s physical, operational and technology planning. Mark leads Flinders’ sustainability activities and is fast-tracking adoption of new technologies supporting the transition to a net-zero emissions profile. Efforts include 100% renewable electricity, a growing fleet of Electrical Vehicles, and vehicle-to-grid trials.

Bruce Lines is currently the Vice-President & Executive Director, University Integration – a transformative and strategic role responsible for leading the integration and transition activities associated with the creation and successful day one operation of Adelaide University. Bruce's career in higher education began at the University of Queensland, where he spent time in policy development and faculty management roles. Subsequently he joined the University of Canberra in 2003 as Director, Student Services. Bruce led a major change management project in 2008 focusing on procurement as well as IT and business process outsourcing. He was appointed Vice-President, Operations in 2009.

Bruce joined the University of Adelaide in 2014 as the Chief Operating Officer, leading a Division of around 500 people, across Finance, HR, Infrastructure, IT, Legal and other corporate services functions. He has overseen several transformative programs including leading the process to examine the benefits of integrating the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia.

Rob McGauran is a founding Director of MGS Architects. Throughout his career, Rob has sought to engage with the big challenges facing our communities and the cities they inhabit. He has reframed our universities as hubs of innovation, knowledge, and employment, leveraging their aggregated talent and strategic geography to transform and deliver positive social, economic and educational impact. In turn he has led the revisioning and curated the implementation of campus masterplans that have earned clients’ multiple awards, rising global rankings and cemented MGS as the leading Australian Design Practice for University masterplanning.

Johanna leads Arup’s Education Business across Australia, offering a wealth of experience and insights, regularly engaging with key universities across the region and being connected to Arup’s wider global network. On behalf of Arup, Johanna has been leading the development of the TEFMA Benchmark and Insights publication for the last three years. Johanna is a well-versed project leader, regularly managing multi-disciplinary teams and collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders. Her background in architecture and engineering results in a consolidated project approach, balancing design and technical solutions
