This webinar provides an overview of the key Scope 3 emissions relevant to the higher education sector, including highlights on the key aspects of the guidance that have been tailored to support consistency in measuring and reporting certain emissions. This is the first joint TEFMA/ACTS Scope 3 emissions guideline released for the tertiary education sector in Australia and New Zealand aimed at assisting staff at institutions identify, manage and report Scope 3 emissions.
The webinar will also explain how TEFMA, ACTS and Beca collaborated to develop the Guideline.

Staff handling emissions management and reporting should attend this webinar. Additionally, those involved in facilities and project management are encouraged to join to learn how their work affects emissions and mitigation efforts.

Genevieve Smith - Senior Sustainability Leader
BECA
Genevieve has over 20 years’ experience in the environmental and sustainability sector and is focused on helping organisations use their leadership and influence to address critical climate and nature challenges. She offers deep expertise in strategic planning for climate mitigation, business process integration to drive implementation, and capital works delivery leadership. Collaborating with clients across industries Genevieve helps to identify key impact areas and drive meaningful change within their operations and infrastructure programmes. She guided the development of the TEFMA and ACTS Scope 3 Emissions Guideline, providing expert advice in carbon accounting and emissions reduction management.
Raj Gandhi - Digital Advisory Consultant
BECA
Raj is part of Beca's Digital and Innovation team. He is a civil engineer with a master's degree in construction management. In his role, Raj focuses on helping organisations better understand and track their asset management and sustainability actions and goals through meaningful engagement and smart digital solutions. As project manager for the development of this guideline, Raj led the coordination of the Special Interest Group and played a key role in drafting the document to meet the requirements of TEFMA and ACTS.
Carmen Promo Perez - Sustainability Manager (Strategic Analysis and Reporting)
UTAS
Carmen is the Sustainability Manager, Strategic Analysis and Reporting at the University of Tasmania and has been a sustainability professional since 2012. She is committed to help the University advance in all sustainability matters and has a passion for climate change issues and education for sustainability, stemming from her background as an academic in environmental sciences. She is also passionate about leveraging data to drive change and leads all sustainability data, analysis and reporting at UTAS. In addition to her role at the University, Carmen serves as a Director of Australasian Campuses Towards Sustainability (ACTS). She coordinates the ACTS Climate Action Peer Support Group and co-chairs the ACTS Climate Scenarios Working Group. Furthermore, she is a member of the Advisory Board for the Climate Action Barometer (CAB) for international education and a Steering Committee member of the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS).
