OUR SPEAKER: 

Daswin De Silva is Full Professor of AI and Analytics and Deputy Director of the Centre for Data Analytics and Cognition at La Trobe University, Australia. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Lulea University of Technology, Sweden. His expertise is in AI, Analytics, Automation and AI Ethics. He received national recognition for teaching excellence in AI at the Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT) 2021. He also received the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Teaching in 2019 and the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Research in 2018. Daswin led the Optus AI micro-credentials program, graduating more than 400 Optus employees in practical AI skills. He has co-authored 100+ research articles with an average impact factor of 6.1, received AU$ 12 million industry and government funding for AI research projects. He has supervised 12 PhD completions, and currently supervises 10 PhD students on diverse AI topics. Daswin is an editor of four journals, an invited keynote speaker at local and international conferences, and consulted by the ABC News, Channel 7 News, Forbes, Cosmos and Times Higher Education magazines for his AI expertise. https://scholars.latrobe.edu.au/ddesilva
