Dear colleagues,

Much has changed since my last newsletter, including soaring domestic energy prices resulting from the conflict in Ukraine and the resulting global shift in energy supply sources, a change in Australian Government and the New Zealand announcement that their international borders will be fully opened from the end of July 2022. It is likely too early to tell what challenges or opportunities each of these will present the institutions across our Higher Education sector, but I am excited to view each with at least a glass half full.

Closer to home, TEFMA saw the resignation of Bree Blackwell who has supported the Board tremendously over the last 5 years throughout many events, our digital transformation and keeping us all connected throughout COVID. We extend our sincere gratitude and wish her all the best for her future endeavours. We also welcome Brittany Lee into the Secretariat position, who will be the new face behind info@tefma.com, supporting our Board and our Members as we deliver the objectives within our strategic plan. We would love to hear from you if you have questions, ideas we could explore or promote, membership and sponsorship queries or otherwise wish to engage with TEFMA and our networks.

Brittany Lee

We extend our thanks to GJK Facilities Services, our TEFMA Education Partner, who continue to support the professional development of our members and sharing of information across our network by supporting the Education Services Committee to deliver quality content and events for all. Our events calendar is filling up again and we look forward to engaging with members at:

  • Ongoing Webinars
  • 12 July 2022 online Directors Forum (for Institutional Members)
  • August 2022 Space Guidelines regional in-person workshop
  • Digital and face to face September 2022 TEMC in Hobart

Our collaborative, engaged network have produced stellar results across all aspects of managing our higher education built environments that are being watched with interest by our global peers. TEFMA seeks to extend collaborations and learning opportunities to support our home institutions, and I would encourage you all to explore the professional development benefits of our engagements with APPA, AUDE and HEFMA.

I remind all leaders that the nomination period to join the TEFMA Board closes at 4pm on Wednesday, 1 June 2022, and I encourage those that have the capacity, competency and an altruistic interest to support the sector, to apply.

Finally, we will be celebrating our institutions, business partners and people at the TEFMA Awards night in Hobart at this years TEMC. Due recognition of best practice, new ideas, leadership, talent and bright futures will be celebrated – I encourage all to apply for our Awards and Scholarships for the sector recognition that you deserve.

Keep in touch and continue all the great conversations on the TEFMA Community - some great topics and sharing have already occurred, and there are many more to be had!

Kind Regards,

Glenn Mowbray

TEFMA President
