Build your Knowledge, Build your Network

Dear Colleagues,

I trust your 2025 is going smoothly now census date has well passed and we are midway through Semester 1.  The Board and local organising committees have been working hard to ensure our Space Planning Workshop in June 2025 and Annual Conference in September 2025 build on the successes of previous events.  We are also finalising the new 2025-27 strategic plan and will circulate the plan prior to the end of June 2025.

Our annual benchmarking process has now closed and the data submitted continues to be of a high standard, and I thank all institutions for their continued support in this very important and valuable data set.  The benchmark data will be provided to our partner ARUP who will again be developing the TEFMA Benchmark Insights publication.  We are aiming to present the final version at the Brisbane TEFMA Conference in September, which is a few months earlier than previous editions.

Scholarships and Awards

Applications for the 2025 Scholarships and Clever Campus Awards opened late March and will close on 2 June 2025.  If you haven’t had a chance to review the Scholarship and Awards on offer, I strongly encourage you to visit the website and consider submitting an application.  We have added an additional Award this year – Sustainability Award - which is proudly sponsored by Schneider.  As a reminder, the tables below outline the TEFMA scholarship and award opportunities:

The winners will be announced at the Clever Campus Awards and Gala Dinner in Brisbane on 17 September 2025.

Publications

Since the last newsletter, we published the TEFMA / ACTS Scope 3 Emissions Guideline on 15 April 2025 on the TEFMA Community Forum.  My thanks go to all the SIG members involved and to BECA who facilitated the project.  This is the first sector specific Scope 3 emissions publication produced, and we envisage that it will undergo a refresh in the next 2-3 years.  A dedicated webinar on the Guideline is scheduled for 21 July 2025, so keep an eye out for the communications on the webinar.

Through the strategic planning process, the Board will be considering the next guideline/publication topic and schedule the refresh of our existing Guidelines.
