Dear colleagues,
With 2026 well underway, I hope you had a well-earned break and have returned refreshed for what will no doubt be another busy year across the sector. The year has commenced at pace for the Board, with the first Board meeting (online) held on Friday 6 February 2026, our strategy session on 1 March 2026 and our successful Asset Management Workshop in Launceston convened on 2-3 March 2026.
The Board’s strategy session was focused on progress to date and ensuring that focus is applied to achieve the ambitious outcomes of the TEFMA 2025 - 28 Strategic Plan. The current strategic plan can be found here and I encourage members to take some time to look at the Plan and the Board and Executive is more than happy to chat with members on any aspect of the Plan.

TEFMA Asset Management Workshop
On behalf of the TEFMA Board, I would like to extend our appreciation to those that attended the Asset Management Workshop held on 2-3 March 2026 in Launceston. We had many institutions and business partners represented and the level of engagement across the two days was fantastic. Early feedback to date has been extremely positive, and we wish to warmly thank the organising committee, keynote speakers and session presenters, our event organiser, exhibitors and sponsors, and all delegates. The Asset Management Workshop presentations will be uploaded into the TEFMA Community Portal for members to access within the next week.
I would also like to thank the University of Tasmania for investing their time to take members on informative tours of some of their outstanding facilities at the Inveresk Campus, Launceston. The precinct has had circa $360M invested over the last 5-6 years, which now boasts a very vibrant community, on the doorstep of the Launceston CBD. We very much appreciate you sharing your knowledge, experience and lessons learned along the way.
Following each TEFMA event, we survey participants to gauge feedback on how we can make these events even better, so I encourage those who attended to take a few minutes to complete the survey.

The Information and Knowledge Services Committee is preparing for yet another year of benchmarking. Confirmation of the relevant institutional contact for the benchmarking survey has been released and now closed, but if you missed the email, please contact our Secretariat at info@tefma.com to make sure you participate in the survey. We look forward to working with institutions on this year’s survey, which continues to provide rich data for consideration and decision making.

Publications
I am pleased to advise the TEFMA 2024 Benchmark Insights Publication was completed and made available in the TEFMA Community Portal at the TEFMA 2025 Conference in Brisbane, which is three months earlier than previous year releases. We trust that you have had a chance to peruse the Insights Publication. The 2025 Publication preparation will commence mid-year, with a release target of September 2026 at the Melbourne TEFMA Conference.
The Information and Knowledge Services Committee is on the cusp of appointing a Business Partner to refresh the two existing 2021 TEFMA Guidelines – Strategic Asset Management and Asset Audit guidelines. A Special Interest Group (SIG) has been formed, and together with the expert consultant, will refresh the Guidelines by mid-2026. I will provide a further update in my May 2026 Newsletter.
On behalf of the Board and members, I sincerely thank all special interest groups who participate in developing these informative publications. These members are duly acknowledged within the Publications.
